MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team fell 4-1 to Xavier on Saturday morning at Leftwich Tennis Center.

Memphis battled in doubles play, but Xavier claimed the opening point with wins on courts one and three. The Tigers' duo of Natalia Koppova/Clemence Thouard held a 5-3 lead on court two before the match went unfinished.

In singles, Memphis picked up its lone point from the top of the lineup as Sofiia Mykhailets delivered a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory on court one for her ninth singles win of the season.

Xavier responded by securing three straight-set victories on courts four, five and six to clinch the team win. Emma Dvorackova, Rebecca Frant and Marina Lubsheva each battled in tightly contested matches, with all three featuring first-set tiebreaks.

Matches on courts two and three were left unfinished as Alicia Mall and Natalia Koppova each pushed their opponents into competitive three-set contests.

Memphis falls to 2-14 and will be back in action on Sunday, April 5 against Tulsa. First serve is set for 11 a.m. in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
