Women's Tennis Gets Pair of Singles Wins at Tulsa

TULSA - Getting a sneak peek at the venue for the upcoming American Athletic Conference tennis championships, the University of Memphis women's tennis team (7-12, 2-2 American) got singles wins at No. 1 and 2, but fell 4-2 at Tulsa, Saturday.
Tulsa snapped Memphis' three-match winning streak in doubles by claiming all three doubles matches for the early 1-0 lead.
The Golden Hurricane then built a 3-0 lead with wins at 5 and 6 singles before senior Liza Tymchenko grabbed a 7-5, 6-3 win to get Memphis on the board at 3-1. No. 123 ranked Anki Wind made it 3-2 with a comeback 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1, her 10th singles win of the year at No. 1. But Marcelina Cichon closed out the Tulsa win with a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 3 for the victory.
Memphis falls to 2-2 in conference play with the loss to Tulsa and has two conference foes coming in to The Racquet Club of Memphis next weekend to prepare for the conference championships. The Lady Tigers will host No. 62 ranked SMU, Friday, at 10 a.m., then will close their 2015 home schedule, Saturday, against USF, at 11 a.m. Admission to both matches will be free.
