Tigers Rifle Second At NCAA Sectional/Qualifier

Teams, individuals selected to compete in NCAA Championships to be announced later this week.
MURRAY, Ky. --Â University of Memphis'Â Amy Fister shot a career best in air rifle and Makennon Doran recorded season highs in both disciplines to lead the Tigers to a second-place finish at the NCAA Sectional/Qualifier last weekend.
Memphis now waits to see if it earned a second-straight trip to the NCAA Championships, which are set for Mar. 13-14 in Fairbanks, Alaska. Teams and individuals selected to compete in the NCAA Championships will be announced later this week.
Fister tied for second in air rifle with her career-best score of 589. Doran placed fifth in air rifle with a season-high 589. Senior Max Burkhardt placed sixth with a 588.
In smallbore, Doran's 577 was a season high. Burkhart placed second in smallbore with a 583, and Fister was fourth with a 579.
Burkhardt (1171), Fister (1168) and Doran (1166) were third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in aggregate score at the sectional.
Memphis placed second at the NCAA Sectional/Qualifier with an aggregate score of 4665. The Tigers won air rifle with a 2348 and was second in smallbore with a 2317. Murray State won the NCAA Sectional/Qualifier with an aggregate score of 4668, with UT Martin finishing third (4622).
