MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Led by Ryan Holland, Drew Martinez, Adam McClain and Dane Sharp, the Blue team edged the White club, 4-3, in Memphis Baseball's first scrimmage of the fall, Tuesday afternoon at FedExPark.
Holland fanned three in an inning of work, while Sharp faced the minimum in his one-inning outing. McClain led the Blue offense with two hits and an RBI. Martinez also drove in a run.
The White side got solid performances from Chad Zurcher and juco transfer Eli Hynes. Both posted multiple hits and an RBI. Ben Paullus, Erik Schoenrock and T.J. Rich all faced the minimum and struck out one in their inning of work.
"I was very pleased with the fastball command our pitchers showed," said Schoenrock. "That is a point of emphasis for our pitching staff fall. I feel like we are going to be a much better defensive team. Overall I like the hustle and athleticism this team possesses."
The Tiger's next scrimmage will be the Rookies-Veterans Game, which is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 9 at FedExPark.
