Offense Rides Momentum to Sweep of Tennessee State

With the first win of the year under its belt, the University of Memphis volleyball team used a potent offensive attack to cruise to a sweep of Tennessee State in the nightcap at the Lady Topper Invitational. Katlin Inglish downed a team-high 12 kills and hit .385, while Becky Shaffer picked up a match-high 18 digs and Emily Underwood made five total blocks to help the Tigers to their second consecutive win.
Memphis hit .375, .375 and .393 in sets one, two and three, respectively. Underwood hit an astounding .692 with nine kills. Setter Christine Bach fell a dig shy of a double-double for the second consecutive match, notching 28 assists and nine digs.
The Tigers held TSU under .200 hitting in each set and .136 for the match.
Memphis will round out play in the Lady Topper Invitational on Saturday, when they take on the homestanding Western Kentucky Lady Toppers in the championship match at 2 p.m.
