SEMO Sweeps Past Memphis in Memphis Invitational

Libero Christine Bach tied a match-high with 15 digs and Altrese Hawkins led the Memphis offense with 12 kills and a .429 hitting percentage, but the Tigers' inability to finish resulted in a 3-0 loss to SEMO, Saturday afternoon at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
For the second-straight game, the Tigers failed to execute near the end of the set. Memphis held a 23-22 lead in the first and played even for the first 15 points of the second period.
Freshman setter Stephanie Pauls posted her second double-double in as many matches, finishing the afternoon with 31 assists and 10 digs. Becky Shaffer also made 11 digs for the Memphis defense.
Offensively, Hawkins was the only Tiger hitter to record as many as nine kills. Senior Lauren Thompson was the only other U of M hitter to hit over .200, finishing the match at .312 with six kills
Memphis will look to get in the win column this evening when it hosts Arkansas State at 7 p.m.
