Arkansas Last Chance Meet Results 
Fayetteville, Ark. - A trio of athletes from the University of Memphis Track and Field squad competed in the Arkansas Last Chance meet on Friday, March 6.
"Our athletes did a great job today," said head coach Kevin Robinson. "I was really proud to be the coach of this group that I brought to Fayetteville today."
At a meet with such high level competitors, the most impressive performance may have come from the Memphis freshman Aaron Evans who improved his personal best and school record time in the 800m run by over a full second. The Bermuda native's time of 1:49.02 in the event today also set a Bermuda national indoor record. Evans' new time would rank him at 14th in the NCAA according to the records prior to today.
"Aaron (Evans) did an absolutely phenomenal job today," said Robinson. "He got boxed in a little bit and was in the back of the pack with 600 meters to go. He just refused to allow the opportunity to slip through his fingers. He took off and ended up running everybody down except the eventual winner of the event and ended up running a phenomenal time."
Sophomore Aaron Whetsotone recorded a personal record mark in the indoor triple jump with a leap of 15.56m (51-00.75) today. His provisional mark would move him to 32nd in the NCAA.
"Aaron (Whetstone) again had some great jumps, but had a little injury issue with his sternum and was having some trouble moving around," said Robinson. "He did jump very well with an indoor personal best. He fought like a champion today and did a great job."
Despite the lack of competitors in the event, senior Sivan Aballi recorded another NCAA provisional mark of 15.77m (51-09.00) in the shot put. Entering competition today, Aballi was ranked 15th in the NCAA rankings for the shot put.
"I think Sivan (Aballi) was ready to come in here to compete today, but when we arrived, there was only one other competitor in the event," said Robinson. "She basically threw against herself in a non-competitive atmosphere for her. She did as well as she could have under those conditions."
The Tiger competitors hope that their season's best performances will merit them a trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships next week in College Station, Texas on Friday, March 13 and Saturday March 14.Successful Last Chance for Tiger Trio
