MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis has announced the men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field schedules for the 2026 season. This year's slate features seven indoor meets, beginning with the Birmingham Icebreaker this Friday, December 5, before postseason competition. Seven outdoor meets will follow throughout the spring.
The Tigers are well-positioned for another exciting season across multiple events in head coach Kevin Robinson's 20th season at the helm. They return 10 of 16 NCAA regional qualifiers in 2025: six throwers, three sprinters and American Conference triple jump champion Oageng Mdlela. The quartet of Bryson Wilson, Prior Ochonogor, Kouto Anyika and Courtland Noble that shattered the 4x400 school record also all return.
Memphis will open the indoor season at the Birmingham Icebreaker for the third consecutive year (December 5). The Tigers open 2026 at the Bob Teel Invitational (January 25), where Memphis captured six event titles last season.
For the second straight year, the Tigers will travel to Louisville for the Lenny Lyles Invitational (January 30–31). Memphis returns to Birmingham the following weekend for the UAB Invite and UAB Green and Gold Invite (February 6–7), where the Tigers won six events and earned 18 top-five finishes a year ago.
The Tigers head to Nashville for the Music City Challenge (February 13–14) before concluding the indoor regular season at the Redhawks Open (February 20).
Indoor postseason action begins in Birmingham at the American Conference Indoor Championships (February 27–28), where Sascha Salesius Schmidt captured last year's shot-put title with an 18.20-meter mark. The NCAA Indoor Championships will follow in Fayetteville, Arkansas (March 13-14).
The Tigers open the outdoor season at the Ole Miss Classic (March 20–21) before remaining in the Magnolia State for the Bulldog Relays at Mississippi State (March 27–28). Memphis then travels to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for the Joey Haines Invite (April 3–4), marking the Tigers' 11th straight appearance at the meet.
Memphis rounds out its outdoor regular-season schedule with four consecutive meets in the South, including the Crimson Tide Invitational (April 10–11), UF Tom Jones Memorial (April 17–18) and LSU Alumni Gold (April 24–25). The Tigers then host their annual Memphis Tiger Invitational (May 1–2).
Outdoor postseason competition begins with the American Conference Outdoor Championships (May 15–16), hosted by North Texas. The NCAA East Preliminary Rounds will be held (May 27–30) at the University of Kentucky (May 27-30). The NCAA Championships are scheduled at the University of Oregon (June 10-13) in Eugene, where Gabriel Koletsi and Schmidt represented the Tigers in 2025.
