Despite 13 kills from Altrese Hawkins and 10 from Maja Jovanovic, the University of Memphis volleyball team suffered a straight-set loss at UCF in C-USA action on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers fall to 2-16, 0-5 in league play, while UCF claims its first C-USA win and evens its record at 9-9.
Christine Bach led all players with 30 assists for the Memphis offense that hit .233 for the match.
Jovanovic led the Tigers with eight digs. Bach and Becky Shaffer finished with seven digs each. Memphis out blocked UCF 8-6. Carolyn Baker, Katlin Inglish and Casey Sines all made four total blocks.
UCF was led by Kristin Fishers 16 kills. Andee Youngblood made 29 assists.
Memphis, who has now dropped nine-straight matches, will return to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse on Tues., Oct. 6, when it hosts Central Arkansas in non-conference action. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
