Defending C-USA Champs, Tulane Runs Past Memphis

The defending Conference USA champion, Tulane Green Wave, handed Memphis a convincing 3-0 loss in league action Sunday after at Fogelman Arena.
Tulane red-hot Green Wave offense hit .370 for the match, led by a match-high nine kills from Lindsey Shepard. Tulane won its fifth-straight 3-0 decision.
Memphis hit .130 for the contest and gave up sizeable runs in each set. Tulane made an 8-0 run in the first to open a 15-13 set. A 7-0 run in the second turned an 8-5 game into a 15-5 Wave advantage. Ahead 8-6 in the third, TU scored five-straight to make it 13-6.
The Tigers were led by seven kills from Katlin Inglish. Christine Bach handed out 26 assists. Becky Shaffer led the U of M defense with eight digs.
Memphis returns home for the last two times this year, when it hosts Southern Miss and UCF in a pair of league matches next weekend. The Tigers and Golden Eagles will matchup in a 7 p.m. contest on Fri., Oct. 30. U of M Senior Day is set for Sun., Nov. 1 versus the Knights. Both matches will be played at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
