UCF Completes Three-Game Sweep of Memphis

ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Memphis softball team suffered an 8-0 five inning defeat as UCF completed a three-game conference sweep on Sunday at the UCF Softball Complex.
UCF ace Allison Kime (24-9) one-hit the Tigers (24-24, 4-13) and struck out seven in five innings. Kime earned the victory in all three games and had two shutouts. She held Memphis hitters to one run on four hits in 15 and two thirds innings.
Sophomore outfielder Leigh Rowan had the only hit for Memphis with a single through the right side in the third inning. Rowan was the only base runner in the game for the Tigers.
Freshman Kimber Bossom (11-12) pitched two and a third innings in the loss, giving up three earned runs on six hits with one strikeout. Junior Lyndsey Sterling tossed the final two and a third innings and allowed one hit with one strikeout. Only three of the eight UCF runs were earned.
The Knights scored two runs in the second, four in the third and one in the fourth and fifth innings. Brittany Hipple and Ashley Van Ryn both had two RBI for UCF. Breanne Javier hit a walk-off single through the right side in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Memphis will next play its final midweek doubleheader of the season on Tuesday at Alcorn State.
