JONESBORO, Ark. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team came up short while playing with just five healthy players in a non-conference match at Arkansas State, Thursday. Senior Christina Wieser teamed with Ekin Zafir to win their No. 1 doubles match, and Wieser added a win at No. 3 singles to give Memphis its only point of the match in a 6-1 loss.
The Lady Tiger win at No. 1 doubles was the third win in the last four tries for Wieser and Zafir. The tandem is now 4-8 on the year in doubles. Wieser then won her first set against Rone Van Wyk, 6-2, then battled to hang on for the victory with a 7-6 (6) second set win.
The Lady Tigers will wrap up the seven-match road swing at Southern Illinois, Monday. Memphis will next play at home next Saturday (Apr. 7th) when UALR comes to town.
