Men's Tennis Earns Second Straight Sweep

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (2-2) swept the Rhodes College Lynx, 7-0, in non-conference action at WellWorx, Friday night. Memphis battled to claim the doubles point with three wins, then used six straight set victories to improve to 2-2 on the season.
Against the cross-town Lynx, Memphis mixed up its line-up in doubles, teaming juniors Amrit Narasimhan and Jimmy Khougassian together at No. 1 doubles, where the duo survived a tiebreaker to win 8-7 (7-4). Memphis also changed its doubles teams at No. 2 and 3, teaming Benedikt Fischer and Spencer Heflin together for an 8-5 win at No. 2 and Charlie Ramsay and Garrison Pilant together for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
The singles line-up also changed up top, as Khougassian claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles over Kareem Mansur, while Fischer claimed a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Daniel Hammond. Narasimhan added a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over Scott Bayer at No. 3 singles.
The bottom third of the line-up remained the same, with the same results as last time as all three Tiger freshman picked up straight set wins to power Memphis to its second sweep of the season. Charlie Ramsay defeated Adam Bohnert, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Loup added a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles over Jonathan Moreno, and Heflin closed out the singles wins with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Tyler Snedden.
Memphis will have a one week break to prep for its next home match, as nationally-ranked Mississippi State will come to town for a 6 p.m. match on Feb. 16th.
