After spending five years as an assistant coach under head coach Natalie Poole at Memphis, McNeese State and Georgia Southern, Andy Lott was elevated to associate head coach at Memphis in 2013.

A native of Chesapeake, Va., Lott spends the majority of his time at Memphis working with the infield as well as helping the staff oversee hitting. More specifically, Lott spends time working with the slap hitters and led two of them to First Team All-American Athletic Conference honors in 2017.

In 2019, Lott assisted in guiding three players to all-conference in senior Ashley Threatt, sophomore Baylee Smith and freshman Alyssa Dean. Threatt, a transfer from Columbia State Community College, finished her two-year career with a .302 batting average and 13 home runs for Memphis.

The 2018 season proved to be a continuation of the upward climb of the previous two years. Records continued to be broken, milestones continued to be set, and accolades continued to be awarded. Memphis finished the season with a 37-21 record, setting a new benchmark for wins in a season. Led by senior shortstop Kyler Trosclair Klatt, the Tigers also set records for team batting average (.308), hits (468), runs scored (288), and RBI (260).

With assistance from Lott, Trosclair Klatt set plenty of her own records, including career hits (249), career stolen bases (78), and career runs scored (138). Trosclair Klatt was a two-time All-Conference performer, earning first-team honors in 2017 and second-team honors in 2018.

After a record-breaking season in 2016, the 2017 Tigers continued to improve and finished with a semifinal finish in the American Athletic Conference Tournament and a 29-27 overall record. Led by Co-AAC Player of the Year, Lindsay Crowdus, Memphis shattered the stolen base record with 122 swipes.

Memphis finished the 2016 season with a 26-31 overall record and before the 2017 season came around, it proved to be one of the strongest offensive seasons in program history.

While at Memphis, Lott has helped guide 18 players to all-conference recognition.

In his first season at Memphis, Lott helped the Tigers to a 20-37 overall record and 8-16 mark in Conference USA play. He guided junior third baseman Laura Curtis to All-Conference USA second-team honors, helping her become just the seventh player in program history to earn All-C-USA accolades.

In the 2013, two more Tigers, outfielders Lelani Bernadino and Hannah Harrell, earned all-conference honors. Bernadino posted the best batting average of her Memphis career (.307), while Harrell led the team with a .419 batting average during conference play.

Lott has 19 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Prior to coming to Memphis in 2012, he spent three years on Poole's staff at McNeese State after joining her for one season at Georgia Southern. At McNeese State, Lott was responsible for coaching the infield and recruiting.

While with the Cowgirls, Lott helped the team earn three-straight 30-win seasons, including a school-record 38 wins in 2010 and a trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Prior to working at Georgia Southern, Lott spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Liberty University. While at Liberty, he was the top assistant and oversaw practice organization along with aiding the program's recruiting efforts.

During his stay in Lynchburg, Va., the Flames won the 2002 Big South Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The team tied a school record with 41 victories in 2006 and ranked 13th in the nation with a school-record 73 home runs in 2007.

Before joining the staff at Liberty, Lott was the head coach of the varsity softball program at Lynchburg Christian Academy and guided the Bulldogs to a 17-5 record during the 1999-2000 season. During the fall semester, he served as the head coach of the girls' junior varsity basketball team and helped Lynchburg Christian to a 23-4 record and a second-place finish in the Virginia Independent Conference.

He also served the Bulldogs' athletic department in two other capacities during his tenure: as assistant coach of the varsity baseball team, which won the VIC title in 1998, and assistant coach of the boys' varsity basketball staff.

Lott is a 1995 graduate of Liberty with a bachelor's degree in sports management. He received his MBA from Liberty in 2009. He and his wife, Julie, have two daughters, Anna and Sophie, and a son, Benjamin.
