Sep 04, 2025 | Softball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis softball's Paris Brienesse is set to compete for the Swedish Senior National Team starting on Sunday in the 2025 Women's Softball European Championship in Prague, Czech Republic.
"I'm happy for Paris to get this opportunity to represent her country on the international stage," said head coach Trena Prater. "I think it's big for a Memphis Tiger to be able to perform on the stage and continue to expand the brand of the program and the university. I feel like Paris is going to do a great job and help her team compete in the tournament."
Brienesse, a transfer from Angelo State, joined the Tigers over the summer and has already competed at the U18 and U22 levels for Sweden.
The competition runs from Sept. 7-13 and will feature teams representing 21 countries. Brienesse and Sweden are set to begin Group Play against Austria, Turkey and Lithuania in Group D. Sweden plays two games on Sunday, Sept. 7 against Austria and Turkey before completing the group stage on Monday against Lithuania.
Group winners will advance to the semifinal pools, where round-robin play will decide the six Super Round contenders. Non-qualifying teams will enter the Placement Round to determine final standings.
All games will be streamed on Baseballeurope.tv, and play-by-play coverage can be found on the WBSC Europe website.
Brienesse, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, has had stops at Angelo State, UT Arlington and Seward County Community College prior to joining Memphis. The outfielder's most recent season as a Rambelle is highlight by 22 stolen bases, which ranked 88th at the Division II level.
