Prater Adds to Pitching Staff with Lefty Cassiti Baroni
Jun 26, 2026 | Softball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis softball head coach Trena Prater announced the addition of left-handed pitcher Cassiti Baroni, giving Memphis its first lefty since the 2023 season.
"Adding a lefty to our pitching staff was a priority for me this summer," said Prater. "I think [Cassiti] Baroni is going to help us keep our opponents' hitters off-balance this season. Our mission is to dominate in the circle, and I think she will be an important piece to the puzzle."
Baroni, a native of Fort Bragg, California, will enter her fourth collegiate season after spending her freshman season at Morehead State and the past two seasons at Campbell. With the Fighting Camels, she tossed a total of 56.1 innings, going 6-4 with a pair of saves and a 3.23 ERA.
Baroni featured more prominently as a bullpen arm for Campbell, appearing in 32 games, while only starting three. In 2025, she held opposing hitters to just a .261 batting average and struck out 24 over 47.1 innings.
She becomes the first left-handed pitcher for the Tigers since Mikayla Hoschak, who last pitched for Memphis in 2023.
