Francis Sargeant
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Francis Sargeant joined the Memphis staff as a volunteer assistant coach in September of 2015.
“We are excited to add Francis to our coaching staff,” Goebel said. “He was an outstanding player in college and has a very high work ethic. He will be a great example to our team and any time you can add someone that wants to pursue a career in college coaching, it helps your program.”
Sargeant was a four-year letterwinner at BYU, leaving as the program’s No. 6 all-time winner on the all-time wins list with 91 career singles wins. A two time, second-team All-WCC honoree in singles, Sargeant was 91-48 in singles at BYU and 78-42 in doubles play. Sargeant was also first team All-WCC in doubles in 2013. He helped BYU to the NCAA tournament in 2013 and 2014, facing Memphis in the first round of the tournament in 2013.
A native of Beckenham in the UK, graduated from BYU with a degree in sociology in 2015. In 2010 and 2011, he was the No. 1 ranked U18 player in the UK and was a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.
