Howell Picks Up American Conference Pitcher of the Week Honorable Mention

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis RHP Will Howell was named as an honorable mention for the American Conference's Pitcher of the Week the conference announced Monday.
Howell, a redshirt sophomore from Pine Bluff, Ark., earned the win in the Tigers' American Conference Tournament-clinching victory over Charlotte on Thursday, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out four. Howell notched his fourth quality start of the season and second scoreless outing while allowing just two hits, the second fewest he has surrendered all year.
On the road this season Howell has delivered numerous clutch performances including quality starts in wins at South Florida, Rice and now Charlotte. Howell is the fourth Memphis pitcher to earn a weekly conference honor this season and will look to carry that momentum into the American Conference Tournament as the Tigers open play Wednesday against Charlotte.
