Tigers Fall at Arkansas State in Midweek Matchup

JONESBORO, Ark. – The University of Memphis (10-21, 3-6 American) baseball team dropped a 12-2 decision to Arkansas State (21-12, 6-6 Sun Belt) on Tuesday evening at Tomlinson Stadium-Slayton Family Field.
The Red Wolves used a big fifth inning and continued to add on throughout the night, while Memphis was limited offensively despite an early breakthrough.
Arkansas State out-hit Memphis 15-5 and capitalized on key opportunities to secure the win.
Memphis had limited opportunities after the second inning, finishing with five hits and leaving six runners on base.
On the mound, Logan Rushing took the loss for Memphis after allowing three runs in 2.0 innings. The Tigers used multiple relievers throughout the game, but Arkansas State continued to apply pressure offensively.
Memphis will be back in action this weekend for a crucial conference series against Florida Atlantic. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
