Davis Takes Home Second American Weekly Honorable Mention of Season

IRVING, Texas – Redshirt sophomore Ariel Davis was named to the American Conference's weekly honorable mentions list after a strong weekend at the plate against Florida Atlantic, per a league release Monday afternoon.
It is the second time this season that Davis has earned recognition on the honorable mentions list, previously earning it after the first weekend of the regular season.
Davis, a native of Brandon, Mississippi, slashed .750/.778/.875 over the course of the series, logging six hits, a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Her lone RBI of the weekend came on a single that sparked Memphis' three-run seventh that gave the Tigers a walk-off win over the Owls. She also recorded multi-hit games in every game of the series.
On the season, Davis is leading the Tigers in numerous offensive statistical categories, including batting average (.387), hits (55), runs (33), doubles (11), total bases (91), walks (20) and OPS (1.126).

Memphis (18-35, 6-18 American) heads to the Midwest for its final conference series of the regular season against Wichita State (32-15, 18-6 American). The series is set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m., 6 p.m. and noon, respectively.
