HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both starting pitchers allowed no hits in the first two innings; Memphis center fielder Michael Gupton claimed the game's first hit on a single through the left side in the bottom of the third.
- Jacksonville State scored the first runs of the game in the fourth on a solo shot by Trey King and a two-run homer by Grayson Ashe.
- The Gamecocks added three more runs in the fifth after a diving attempt in center field by Gupton came up just short, resulting in a triple by Cooper Blauser that scored a run. The next batter, Sam Richardson, went yard for Jax State's third home run of the game.
- In the sixth inning, the Gamecocks scored three runs for the third consecutive inning. This time via two singles and a run scored on a wild pitch.
- Jax State extended their lead to 10-0 in the eighth when Trey Majette scored on a sacrifice fly by Cooper Blauser.
- The Tigers were in danger of being run-ruled after the eighth inning until Webb Watson doubled to lead off the inning and later scored when Kyle Mabie grounded into a double play.
- The lead would prove too big for Memphis as two strikeouts and a fly out in the ninth inning sealed the victory for Jax State.
