Tigers Dominate Doubleheader Sunday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's tennis team kicked off the spring season with a pair of 6-1 victories over UAB and Tennessee State at the Leftwich Tennis Center on Sunday.
To start the day, the Tigers faced the Blazers. The Tiger duo of Marko Milosavjlevic/Obrad Markovski claimed the first doubles victory of the season with a 6-0 shutout of UAB's Hoan Mouret/Tomas Tischner. Shortly after, Marcos Castro Fabra/Sam Reeve clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Conor Flynn/Axel Frechet.
In singles, Castro Fabra continued his strong day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Mouret. On courts one and three, Maxime Dubouch and Reeve clinched the match for the Tigers with 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-1 wins, respectively. The remaining singles matches were played out, where Leandro Zgraggen and Luis Sandoval Carvalho both picked up wins to close out the match 6-1
Later in the day, it was an all-Tigers showdown against Tennessee State. Because of a walkover at line three doubles, Tiger duo Milosavjlevic/Markovski clinched the doubles point with their second 6-0 win on the day. At line one, Castro Fabra/Reeve also took their second win of the day, by a score of 6-3.
The Tigers entered singles with a 2-0 lead, as Tennessee State only fielded five singles players. Markovski continued his perfect day with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Alexander Adamec, while Moritz Kudernatsch clinched the match for Memphis with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Taj Hibbert. Sean O Nuàllàin and Milosavjlevic both picked up wins to end the match at 6-1.
Memphis will be back in action next Sunday, January 18th when it hosts Harvard. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at Leftwich Tennis Center. Admission to the match is free.
