Dec 07, 2025 | Women's Basketball
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Memphis women's basketball was defeated on the road Sunday afternoon, 60-51, by Middle Tennessee at the Murphy Center.
It was a rock fight for all 40 minutes, with neither team finding much offensive rhythm outside a few bursts. The Tigers (4-6) created 27 MTSU turnovers – only Tennessee had forced that many against the Blue Raiders – but only turned it into 14 points.
Jordan Hunter led Memphis with 14 points, 11 of which came in the third quarter to propel the visitors back into the game. Facing a 29-22 deficit after shooting just 29.3% in the first half, the sophomore guard was an instant jolt of offense, converting two and-one layups and a three-pointer to bring the Tigers within two. The offense sputtered around her, however, and MTSU (4-5) used free throws to put themselves back in front by nine entering the final frame.
The Blue Raiders looked to be in control early in the fourth quarter, pushing their advantage to 14 with just over six minutes remaining before Memphis came to life on both ends. The Tigers forced six turnovers in a two-minute span, fueling a 9-0 run as guard Chaé Harris scored six quick points, eventually finishing with 11.
The score got as close as 54-49 with three minutes to play, but MTSU was again able to get to the line to keep Memphis from getting any closer. The free-throw tally helped keep the hosts in control; they shot 29 free throws to the Tigers' 16, converting 75.9% at the line.
Freshmen Yu Han Lin and Blair Baugus had 20 and 19 points, respectively, combining for 19 trips to the charity stripe. Baugus, a two-time Miss Basketball at Wayne County High School, also added a career-high 14 rebounds to boost her average to 9.3.
The Tigers will hit the road for another matchup with a 2025 NCAA Tournament team, taking on Murray State on Monday, December 15, at 11 a.m.
