Tigers Head to North Texas for Halloween Night Matchup

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team heads to Denton, Texas to face North Texas on Friday at 6 p.m. with a broadcast on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS 
Memphis (10-16, 1-10 American) comes into this match after dropping a four-set battle to UAB on Wednesday evening inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse.  
Zaniah Hoskins led the Tigers' offense with 18 kills and 19 points, giving the freshman 256 kills on the season while averaging 2.91 kills per set.
For the seventh time this season, five Tigers put up at least five or more kills – Hoskins (18), Za'Niya Boyles (nine), Janyah Henderson (eight), Jasmyn Tate (five) and Brianna Washington (five).
Setter Sydney Marshall tallied 24 assists, giving her 330 on the season and an average of 4.93 per set. Maddy Bach followed with 18 assists, bringing her season total to 581 and an average of 6.53 per set.
Henderson led at the net with four block assists, while Tate and Boyles added two each. Henderson has totaled 96 blocks this season, including 78 block assists, and is averaging 1.05 blocks per set.
Abigail Schlueter recorded her 100th career service ace in Wednesday's match and led the defense with 16 digs. The junior has totaled 322 digs this season, averaging 3.43 per set.
SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN 
North Texas (17-6, 7-3 American) dropped its previous match against Abilene Christian on Wednesday evening in four sets. 
The Mean Green average 2.33 blocks per set, which currently ranks second in the American Conference, and lead the league in total assists (1,064) while averaging 12.52 assists per set.
Lilly Croshaw led the offense with 13 kills and 14 points with Loredana Fouonji, Jahniya Jackson and Reagan Bedell followed with ten plus kills and points.
Bedell is the Mean Green's leader in kills with 280 averaging 3.11 kills per set, with Croshaw following at 229 and averaging 2.54 kills per set.
Two setters put up 20-plus assists, Sidney Soria (24) and Alexa Washington (20), against ACU. Washington is now in the 500 assists with 504 assists on the season averaging 5.66 assists per set.
Defensively, four North Texas players recorded 10-plus digs against the Wildcats, led by Washington leading at 16. Dakota Michell (14), Bedell (10) and Soria (10) were the other three players in double figures.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST NORTH TEXAS 
Friday's matchup marks the second meeting this season between the programs. North Texas won the earlier contest in Memphis, but the Tigers have claimed the last three matchups in Denton, including last season's road win in Texas.
