Oct 17, 2025 | Men's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team returns to the Billy J. Murphy Track & Soccer Complex on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. for a matchup against the Temple Owls. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Tigers still stand in the middle of the table with six points, while Temple is currently ninth in the American Conference as the only team without a win during conference play.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (3-6-3, 2-3-0 American) fell to the current conference leader, Florida Atlantic, this past Sunday by a score of 2-0.
Miller Lashlee scored in his third-consecutive match, bringing the contest level in the early stages of the second half. The Tigers went on to concede a minute later and eventually fell after Charlotte added a second goal in the second half.
The Tiger attack is led by a pairing with differing experience in freshman Miller Lashlee and sixth year Luciano Galizzi. Lashlee has three goals this season, scoring in three of Memphis' last four contests, while Galizzi is atop the American Conference rankings with six assists, also adding one goal to sit at eight points on the season.
Both attackers are tied in a major statistical category with two Tiger newcomers, as Lashlee is tied with midfielder Saad Chaouki in goals. Chaouki also ranks second among all Memphis players in minutes played with 977. Galizzi's eight points are tied with redshirt junior Eben McIntyre for the most on the team this season. McIntyre's eight points come from four assists and two goals, with both goals being game-winners.
Goalkeeper Filip Sabatti has played to a 3-4-2 record in goal after moving back into a starting role. Sabatti had his fifth outing of the season with at least four saves in Memphis' last contest against Florida Atlantic and has faced at least 10 shots in all but two starts this year.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Temple (1-9-2, 0-4-0 American) most recently fell in its last conference match against Tulsa, 1-0, on Oct. 12. The Owls are currently looking to snap a five-match losing streak.
Paolo Kampula leads the Temple attack with two goals on the season, with three other players tallying one goal. Kampula is also one of only three Owls with over 1,000 minutes played and one of four to have started all 12 of Temple's matches this season. He also spent two seasons on the same La Salle team that Memphis goalkeeper Filip Sabatti was a member of.
In goal, the Owls have deployed two goalkeepers, with Diego Dauzier starting seven matches and Preston Neal starting five. The early stages of the season saw Dauzier and Neal trading off starts before the former earned four consecutive starts. Neal has been the choice in goal for each of Temple's last two matches, only allowing one goal each against Penn and Tulsa. As a tandem, Neal and Dauzier have 59 saves and currently hold a shared save percentage of .728.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST TEMPLE
The all-time series between the Tigers and Owls is even at 6-6-3, while head coach Richard Mulrooney is 6-5-3 against Temple. Memphis is currently on a five-match unbeaten streak against the Owls with four wins and one draw dating back to the 2021.
Last year's match between the two programs was a scoreless draw featuring seven saves between Filip Sabatti and Andrew Kempe. The Tigers had a chance to take an early lead in the contest, but a missed penalty by Giorgios Kondylis was the best opportunity for either team.
