Pair of Braces Leads Memphis to 4-2 Win over Temple
Oct 18, 2025 | Men's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis (4-6-3, 3-3-0 American) men's soccer team put up four goals thanks to two braces by Miller Lashlee (Byhalia, Miss./Lewisburg HS) and Saad Chaouki to defeat Temple (1-10-2, 0-5-0 American) by a score of 4-2, Saturday afternoon.
Lashlee's two goals came within two minutes of each other in the first half before Temple scored late in the first half and converted on a penalty attempt in the second half. Chaouki stepped up to the penalty spot in the 82nd minute and scored the game-winner before adding another goal two minutes later to bring the final score to 4-2.
KEY MOMENTS
- 20' – In a display of team passing, a cross by Anthony DiFalco (Pittsburgh, Pa./Franklin Regional HS) was headed down by Eben McIntyre to the feet of Miller Lashlee, who took a touch and beat the Temple goalkeeper.
- The assists were DiFalco's third and McIntyre's fifth of the season.
- 22' – A loose cross into the box was mishandled by Temple's Preston Neal and bounced off multiple Owl defenders before Miller Lashlee got a quick touch to push the ball over the net.
- The goal was Lashlee's second of the match and fifth of the season, with all five goals coming in American Conference play.
- 35' – Temple mounted a counterattack after intercepting a Memphis pass and Chase Jackson found the back of the net after passes from Nathan Brown and Anthony Perez.
- 47' – What appeared to be a Memphis goal by Eben McIntyre was overturned after review determined that there was a handball by a Memphis player in the buildup of play.
- 68' – Temple tied the match in the 68th minute on a penalty after Luciano Galizzi fouled a player in the box.
- The play went to review and was upheld, with contact being confirmed in the penalty area.
- 82' – Shortly after receiving a pass, Luciano Galizzi was held in the box, with the play being deemed a penalty for denying a clear scoring attempt. Saad Chaouki stepped up to the penalty spot and beat the opposing goalkeeper for the eventual game-winning goal.
- The successful penalty goal was Memphis' first since the 2023 season when Alberto Cruz (Madrid, Spain/Safa Madrid) scored a penalty against UAB.
- 83' – Temple worked quickly off the restart with an early chance on a strike by Rocco Haeufglockner that was saved by a sprawling Filip Sabatti to preserve the one-goal lead.
- 84' – Less than two minutes later, Anthony Grudko found Chaouki at the edge of the box, where Chaouki took a touch and buried his second goal of the match in the far-left corner.
