Tigers Set to Host Tulsa and North Texas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team is set for a pair of home matches this weekend, welcoming Tulsa and North Texas as the Tigers near the midway point of American Conference play.
First serve is set for 7 p.m. and 1 p.m. for each respective match and both contests will be broadcast on ESPN+. Directly following Sunday's match against North Texas, Memphis will conduct its Senior Day recognition.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (10-11, 1-5 American) enters the weekend after defeating Alabama A&M on Wednesday evening in three-sets.
Zaniah Hoskins recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Hoskins is now the Tigers' leader in kills with 282 this season.
Jasmyn Tate followed with tying her season high in kills with ten, as well as setting a new season high in blocks with four. Janyah Henderson contributed in both facets of play with eight kills, six block assists and 11 points on the evening.
Both setters Maddy Bach and Sydney Marshall had double-dight assists in the win with 17 and 12, respectively. Bach now has 504 assists this season, which ranks fifth in the American Conference. Marshall follows with 208 assists this season.
Abigail Schlueter put up 11 digs to give her 242 on the season, which is good for sixth in the American. The junior libero added one ace, bringing her career total to 95.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN HURRICANE
Tulsa (15-3, 5-1 American) travels to Memphis riding a four-match win streak after sweeping UAB and Memphis at home last weekend. The Golden Hurricane are the first team in The American to reach 15 overall wins this season.
Olivia Vance led the Tulsa offense with back-to-back 12-kill performances, bringing her season total to 191 kills. The sophomore also totaled 25.5 points across the two matches and was named to conference's weekly honor roll this past Monday.
Junior setter Brayden Hipp earned her third Setter of the Week honor after averaging 11.17 assists per set (67 total) last week. Hipp leads The American with 9.56 assists per set this season.
SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN
North Texas (13-5, 3-3 American) enters the weekend after back-to-back wins over UTSA and Tulane. The Mean Green will host East Carolina on Friday before making the trek to the Bluff City.
Alex Washington recorded 23 kills, 42 assists, and 27 points over the two matches, highlighted by a triple-double performance with 15 kills, 24 assists, and 24 digs.
Loredana Fouonji posted eight total blocks, bringing her season total to 77, third most in The American. She also contributed 14 kills, two digs, and 19.5 points in the two victories.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST TULSA AND NORTH TEXAS
Friday marks the second meeting of the season between Memphis and Tulsa, with the Golden Hurricane taking the previous matchup last Sunday. The Tigers last defeated Tulsa in 2022 on the road, while their most recent home win over the Golden Hurricane came in 2016 in a four-set match.
Sunday will be the seventh all-time meeting between Memphis and North Texas. The Tigers have never lost to the Mean Green, dating back to their first matchup in 1989. This will be the fourth meeting between the programs since North Texas joined The American in 2023.
