Tigers Fall to Conference-Leader Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Memphis (3-6-3, 2-3-0 American) men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 match against American Conference leader RV Florida Atlantic (9-2-0, 4-0-0 American) Sunday night at the FAU Soccer Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, Florida Atlantic capitalized on two open chances as the Tigers were unable to find the back of the net.
KEY MOMENTS
Memphis returns home on Oct. 18 to face Temple for the Tigers' only home match in the month of October. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+ at 7 p.m. and will serve as the Tommy Smith Alumni Weekend match.

After a scoreless first half, Florida Atlantic capitalized on two open chances as the Tigers were unable to find the back of the net.
KEY MOMENTS
- 18' – The first on-target shot of the match came off the foot of Florida Atlantic's Oliver Moller-Jensen, but Filip Sabatti turned away the tight-angled shot.
- 23' – A foul just outside the box led to a dangerous set-piece opportunity for the Owls, but the shot sailed just over the bar.
- 50' – A bouncing ball in the box found the foot of Andreas Raisanen alone on the left side, who gave the Owls a one-goal lead in the first minutes of the second half.
- 52' – An aerial battle was won by Memphis' Luciano Galizzi, who flicked the ball over to Eben McIntyre before McIntyre was dispossessed in the box.
- 63' – The Tigers did not record their first shot of the contest until Saad Chaouki attempted to go for goal from nearly 30 yards out.
- 67' – A deflected clearance attempt by the Memphis back line was blocked by Aboubacar Traore, who went over the shoulder of a sprawling Sabatti for the second goal of the match.
- The Tigers continue to sit at six points in American Conference play, a mark that was fifth in the conference going into tonight's contest.
- Miller Lashlee's consecutive goal streak is snapped at three matches as the freshman was held without a shot.
- Filip Sabatti had four saves in the loss, pushing him to 31 saves on the year.
- Sabatti's record moves to 3-4-2 on the season.
- Four Tigers (Filip Sabatti, Dino Stavros, Abdallah Traore, Eben McIntyre) logged a full 90 minutes played in the defeat.
- Stavros continues to lead Memphis in minutes played with 1,036.
- Aidan Antcliff made his first start in defense since joining Memphis from Purdue Fort Wayne, logging 60 minutes in his second competition of the 2025 season.
- Three cards were assessed throughout the course of the match.
- For the Owls, Kerfalla Toure, Matthew Alfred and Fabrizio Cubbedu were each assessed a yellow card.
- For the third match in a row, Memphis was not issued a card.
