
The Tigers Hit the Road to the Saluki Bash

Memphis, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team will take its first away trip of the season to Carbondale, Illinois to play in the Saluki Bash.
The Tigers will play Friday at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. against Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois, respectively, while taking on Jackson State on Saturday mid-day at 11 a.m. Friday's match against Southern Illinois can be streamed on ESPN+.
Memphis comes into the tournament with a 2-1 record after defeating Mississippi Valley State and Austin Peay. The Tigers accumulated 107 kills, averaging 11.89 kills per set in their opening weekend.
Hannah Jones leads the team with 26 kills, followed behind by Autumn Flynn with 19 and Madison Rice-Locket with 18. Defensively, Memphis is averaging 13.1 digs per set, led by Abigail Schlueter with 34 digs so far.
Eastern Illinois (0-1) comes into the weekend off a season-opening 3-0 loss to No. 24 Marquette where Kaitlyn Flynn led the team with 10 kills.
The Saluki's (3-0) opened the 2024 season at the Alabama A&M Tournament with victories over Chattanooga, Idaho and Oral Roberts. Kelly Franklin and Annabelle Sulish led the team at the net with a combined 72 kills while both hit over .250. On the defensive side, Cecila Bulmahn picked up a team-best 45 digs while Larissa Seger had a dominating 13 blocks in 11 sets played.
Jackson State (2-2) is coming off a five-set thriller with Northwestern State on Tuesday where Jayden James had 17 kills and 14 digs in the 3-2 loss.
