Sep 15, 2024 | Men's Golf
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's golf team will kick off its 2024-25 season on Monday when it takes part in the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio at Coldstream Country Club.
"Another year set to begin, and we are excited to get started," head men's golf coach Blake Smart said. "The venue is in excellent shape and the field is very competitive. We will get a good feel for where we stack up this week."
Starting off the season, Memphis will have returners Jackson McCommon, Andrew Baucum, Yixiang Wang and Diego Lourencoout on the course along with newcomer – freshman Kaiser Godinez.
The Tigers return a great deal of experience with their season-opening line up; Lourenco won the Gulf Coast Collegiate back in February before following up with an 11 under par performance at the Colleton River Collegiate where he shared second place. Wang found success at the Gulf Coast Collegiate as well, coming in fifth place in route to helping the team take home first place in the tournament while Baucum shot a team-low 212 at the American Athletic Conference Championship to help them place fourth overall.
Coldstream Country Club, a par 71, 7,279-yard course, is one of Cincinnati's premier private country clubs that annually hosts the Bearcat Invitational. Both Monday and Tuesday will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Live results can be found HERE.
