Baucum Advances to Final Qualifying for 124th U.S. Open

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis men's golf team member Andrew Baucum advanced to the final qualifying round for the 124th U.S. Open after tying-third in the U.S. Open Local Qualifying at Escondido Golf & Lake Club in Horseshoe Bay, Texas on Monday.
Baucum, a junior from Rockwall, Texas, put together an outstanding round, shooting three-under with a final score of 68 to land tied-third in the final standings.
"Andrew has a knack for playing qualifiers. It's a different mindset than tournament golf and suits him well," head coach Blake Smart said. "Hopefully he can take advantage and get through sectionals and compete on the biggest stage in the world."
Baucum will compete in the final qualifying round at one of 10 U.S. locations. He will be vying for a position in the 124th U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Village at Pinehurst, N.C. June 13-16.
