BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Memphis baseball team dropped game one of a three-game American Athletic Conference series at UAB, 12-2, in seven innings at Young Memorial Field.

The Tigers fell to 21-29 overall (8-14 AAC) with the loss as the Blazers improved to 23-25 (10-12 AAC) overall.

"We played bad last Friday night and bounced back to take a huge road series," head coach Matt Riser said. I fully expect our guys to respond to how poorly we played today."

HOW IT HAPPENED
• UAB came out swinging and pushed three runs across in the first inning.
• The Blazers added four runs (three with two outs) in the bottom of the third to jump out to a 7-0 lead.
• The Tigers responded and showed life in the top of the fourth when Shane Cox singled to right field to drive in Pierre Seals. Memphis tacked on a second run on a sacrifice fly by Jake Curtis that scored Riley Davis from third base to make the score 7-2, Blazers.
• A five-run rally by the Blazers with two down in the bottom of the sixth inning broke the game open and gave UAB a 12-2 lead.
• The Blazers kept the Tigers off the board in the top of the seventh to win game one of the series by run rule, 12-2.

NOTABLES
• Davis reached base three times and went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
• Daunte Stuart recorded a pair of hits including his 16^th double of the season (second most in AAC).
• Cox went 1-for-3, stole a base and drove in a run.
• Jacob Compton ended the game 1-for-4 and Curtis drove in a run.
• David Warren (4.0 IP, 7 R, 8 H, 5 BB) took the loss on the mound and moved to 4-5 on the season.

• The Tigers are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. for game two of the series at Young Memorial Field.
