Memphis Falls to South Florida in Saturday Matinee

The Tigers (4-29, 1-13 AAC) struggled early on, allowing the Bulls to take a quick lead in the first two innings. Zoe Adebayo and Francesca Lumpp got things moving for the Tigers with two runs in the fourth inning, while Memphis held strong defensively through the middle of the game. The Bulls (26-15, 6-8 AAC) made a final push in the top of seventh to extend the lead to 10-2. MaKaylee Polk made a final effort for the Tigers, with a solo shot over the left field wall, making the final score 10-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• South Florida got on the board early as Rian Eigenmann tripled down the right field line bringing in Alexa Galligani for the run in the top of the first inning. The Bulls put up their second run as Eigenmann reached home on a passed ball. South Florida added three more runs in the frame.
• Memphis was able to get out of a bases loaded situation in the top of the second inning, throwing out two Bulls at home, followed by a pop up to the shortstop to close out the frame.
• Drue Thomas earned the Tigers' first hit of the game reaching first on a shallow hit to right field in the bottom of the second inning. Thomas would be thrown out on a double play to close the bottom of the frame.
• Adebayo led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a single up the middle giving the Tigers some momentum. Lumpp joined Adebayo on base, reaching on error by the third baseman. Marley Maness pushed the runners into scoring positions before an error by the pitcher allowed Adebayo to reach home. Lumpp cut the score once again as Presley Morris singled up the middle for Memphis.
• Arianna Cox-Cole and Maness connected on a double play as Cox-Cole caught a fly and fired off the ball to Maness at home to tag the second Bull in the top of the fifth inning.
• South Florida extended the lead once again as Jordyn Kadlub hit a sacrifice fly to right field bringing in Allana Consolazio in the top of the seventh. The Bull added another run as Galligani sent an RBI double to center field allowing Kathy Garcia-Soto in for the run. Elliott fired off a two-run home run over the center field wall for the Bulls making the score 10-2.
• Polk smashed a ball out of the park down the left field line, tallying her second homer of the season, cutting the score by one in the bottom of the seventh frame.
NOTABLES
• Four Tigers recorded hits in the game: Adebayo, Thomas, Morris and Polk.
• Polk went 1-for-3 with a homer.
• Three Tigers tallied an RBI against the Bulls: Thomas, Morris and Polk.
• Rylee Dugar got the start in the circle recording 1.0 inning of work. Abigail Morgan entered as relief in the top of the second inning. Morgan ended the game with 6.0 innings of work and three strikeouts.

• The Tigers will close their three-game series against South Florida, Sunday at noon at Tiger Softball Complex.
