No. 47 Tigers Earn 4-1 Victory Over No. 73 Tulane on Senior Day

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 47 University of Memphis women's tennis team was led by its two seniors Friday night as the Tigers roared through singles to defeat No. 73 Tulane, 4-1, on Senior Night at Leftwich Tennis Center.

The win improved the Tigers to 15-6 on the year as they finished the season 11-1 at home. The Green Wave dropped to 11-8 with the defeat.

Tulane came out strong in doubles, winning on courts No.1 and No. 2 to take the first point. The Tigers rallied though, as they won all four singles matches to clinch their sixth-straight win.

Micah Pierce swept Brooke Theis 6-1, 6-1 from the bottom of the lineup to get the scoring started. Emily Meyer also swept 6-3, 6-3 from court four to give Memphis a 2-1 advantage.

Then, it all came down to the seniors. No. 125 Camila Soares defeated Lahari Yelamanchili 6-2, 6-4 on court one before Monique Woog clinched in a tiebreaker from her third position 6-4, 7-6(6).

UP NEXT
The Tigers conclude their regular season Monday at 10 a.m. with a road trip to SMU in Dallas, Texas. It will be the final match before next week's American Athletic Conference Championship, also in Dallas.
