Memphis Battles in 4-2 Loss to ETSU

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team fell to East Tennessee State 4-2 on Saturday afternoon in its first match of the weekend in Lynchburg, Va.
Doubles came down to the wire after the two teams split matches on courts one and two. Sofiia Mykhailets/Emma Dvorackova got their third doubles win of the season, winning 6-2 on court one. After Natalia Koppova/Rebecca Frant fell on two, court three proved to be the deciding court. Tiger pair Alicia Mall/Clemence Thouard prevailed after a tiebreaker 7-6 (4), to clinch the doubles point for Memphis.
ETSU fought back in singles, winning five of six first sets. Court three finished first after Natalia Koppova retired, trailing 6-4. The Buccaneers took the lead 2-1 after Mariangel Estrella defeated Marina Lubsheva, 6-1, 6-0. Emma Dvorackova fell on court four, 6-1, 6-1 to put ETSU up 3-1. Sofiia Mykhailets fought back for the Tigers, winning 6-2, 6-1 on court one for her sixth singles win of the season. ETSU clinched the match on court five when Niyati Kukreti defeated Rebecca Frant 6-4, 6-3.
Memphis falls to 2-10 and will be back in action tomorrow, March 8 against Liberty. First serve is set for 12 p.m. back in Lynchburg, Va.
