Tigers Split for Busy Weekend of Competition at Texas Relays, Joey Haines Invite, Wash. U Distance Carnival

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis track and field team is set for a busy weekend of competition as they will compete at the 96th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, the Joey Haines Invite in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the Wash. U Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Missouri.
Live results are available for all three meets: Texas Relays, Joey Haines Invite and the Wash. U Distance Carnival. The Texas Relays will be streamed on ESPN+ and the Wash. U Distance Carnival will also be available to stream on Friday.
Competition for Memphis at The Texas Relays begins Thursday at 5:00 p.m. with the men's hurdles and continue at 9:35 a.m. on Friday starting with the Women's 4x100 Meter Relay. On Friday at the Joey Haines Invite, the team will get started at 3:30 p.m. with the hammer throw. Action resumes at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday with the 1,500 meter races. A little bit further north at the Wash. U Distance Carnival in St. Louis, the men's steeple begins at 8:25 p.m. on Thursday and continues at 12:10 p.m. on Friday with the men's 10,000 meters.
"We're sending a lot of athletes to three different meets, all searching for the right opportunities," head coach Kevin Robinson said. "I'm hoping, above all else, that we have solid weather conditions. I believe that we are more prepared and better than last week. Hopefully we can capitalize and take advantage of some good conditions and good competitions."
NOTABLES
• Will Dibo won the men's discus with a throw of 54.00 meters (177'2"), also winning the men's hammer with a huge personal-best throw of 62.81 meters (206'1") during the Rhodes Invite. Dibo ranks second in AAC in discus and No. 3 in hammer throw. On the national stage, he is No. 43 in discus and No. 40 in the NCAA for hammer.
• Freshman Julia Konigshofer started her college career off strong with a meet-winning throw of 44.22 meters (145'1") in the women's javelin. Last time out, she set a personal best, taking first place again with a throw of 44.30 meters (145-04") at the Ole Miss Classic. Her mark is No. 3 in the AAC and No. 74 in the NCAA.
• American Athletic Conference women's indoor 60-meter hurdles champion Madison Fleming opened her season with a 100-meter hurdles win at the Ole Miss Classic on March 23. She ran 13.70 to win it - a time that ranks No. 57 in the country and second in The American.
• Sascha Salesius Schmidt leads the AAC in shot put and is No. 28 in NCAA. His 17.98 meters (59'0") was set during the first meet of the season.
• In the women's shot put, Poorna Raorane ranks third in the AAC and No. 51 in the NCAA with her throw of 15.09 meters (49' 6.25").
• Liam Walsh (9:24.57) set a personal best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Ole Miss Classic. His time ranks No. 3 in the conference and No. 37 in the NCAA.
