Tigers Set for NCAA East Regional Championships in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Nine Tigers will represent Memphis track and field at the NCAA East Regional Championships, which begin on Wednesday, May 27 and conclude on Saturday, May 30.
The University of Kentucky will host the four-day meet at the UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex. All four days of competition will stream live on ESPN+. Live results, schedules and meet information can be accessed via the links above.
Marek Waltke will be the lone Tiger competing on Wednesday, participating in the javelin event starting at noon. Waltke has put together an impressive rookie season, finishing on the podium four times, including victories at the Crimson Tide and Rhodes Invitationals.
On Thursday, a trio of women's javelin throwers, Maddie Roberts, Adela Mullerova and Isabelle Cruickshank, will kick off the day at noon. Roberts and Mullerova return to the regional stage following strong seasons. Roberts threw 49.63 meters, while Mullerova launched a 51.01-meter mark at the Rhodes Invitational to qualify. Cruickshank, a newcomer to the regional scene, recorded a personal-best throw of 51.41 meters at the Rhodes Invitational alongside seven top-three finishes this year.
Gizel Clayton will start the 100-meter hurdles at 5 p.m., while Judy Elful takes the track later that evening at 7:20 p.m. for the 400-meter hurdles. Elful broke the school record at the Bulldog Relays with a time of 57.20 seconds, ranking No. 33 nationally, to qualify for the second consecutive year. Clayton returns to regional action for the third year in a row after clocking a 13.22-second mark in the preliminary round of the American Conference Outdoor Championships.
American Conference outdoor shot put champion Jazmyn James will compete at 5:30 p.m. in the first of her two events. James threw 16.54 meters at the shot put and 54.93 meters in the discus at the conference meet to set a new personal bests. The senior thrower will participate in her second event, the discus, at noon on Saturday.
Daryl Smith Jr. will be the only Tiger competing on Friday, starting the triple jump at 5 p.m. Smith makes his regional debut after jumping a career-best 15.55 meters at the Memphis Tiger Invitational. He has finished on the podium four times this season.
Lilith Stenger makes her regional debut at 1 p.m. Saturday. In her first year as a Tiger, Stenger has claimed victories at the Memphis Tiger Invitational and Rhodes Invitational, along with three top-three finishes. She set her personal-best high jump clear of 1.76 meters earlier this month at the Memphis Tiger Invitational.
