Tigers Tackle Road Swing at Charlotte, East Carolina

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team will make its way east this week to take on Charlotte Wednesday evening before facing off against East Carolina Saturday afternoon.
Wednesday's game at Charlotte is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. CT while Saturday's contest at East Carolina will tip-off at 1 p.m. CT. Both games can be found on ESPN+.
Memphis (8-14, 4-7 AAC) is coming off an exciting win over Tulane on Saturday afternoon where the Tigers forced the Green Wave into 27 turnovers and overcame a 12-point deficit to take the 80-79 overtime win.
Madison Griggs led the team with 20 points while dropping six from long range. She was the only player from both squads to play the full 45 minutes. Along with Griggs, Hannah Riddick and Shelbee Brown came off the bench for double-digit performances while Brown also recorded a career-high seven steals.
Alasia Smith cleaned up on the glass for Memphis, grabbing 11 rebounds with 10 coming on the offensive end.
The Tigers have been a dominating force on the offensive boards; they currently rank second in Division I with 17.7 offensive rebounds per game while Smith ranks 13th with an average of 4.2 per contest.
Charlotte (13-11, 6-6 AAC) is coming off its second-consecutive loss following a 70-56 defeat at East Carolina. The 49er's saw a 17-7 deficit after the first 10 minutes and would not be able to recover from there.
For the season, Dazia Lawrence leads the team with 17.7 points per game with Tracey Hueston adding in 12.9. On the boards, Keanna Rembert and Jacee Busick have cleaned up with a combined 241 rebounds for Charlotte.
Wednesday's game will be the first time Memphis and Charlotte have met since the 2004-05 season.
East Carolina (14-8, 7-4 AAC) is on a three-game winning streak following its win over Charlotte on Saturday. Amiya Joyner came off the bench for a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds while Denae McNeal added in 20 points with six assists and five blocks.
The Pirates continue to be threats on the defensive side of the ball; they currently rank 4th in Division I in turnovers forced per game (23.6), 10th in steals per game (11.9) and 12th with a turnover margin of 5.73.
Earlier this season when the Tigers and Pirates met, turnovers in the final minutes plagued the Memphis offense as they suffered the 64-63 loss.
