Nov 30, 2024 | Women's Basketball
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Memphis women's basketball will play three road games in three different states over the next two weeks, beginning with an in-state square-off with ETSU this Sunday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. CT.
Broadcast on ESPN+, it will be the third road game of the Tigers' young season and the first since a loss at Ball State on Nov. 13. Last Saturday, they fell to Murray State at home, 87-83, despite a second consecutive 20-point performance from Tilly Boler and a double-double from Alasia Smith.
Memphis will have a rest advantage over the Bucs, who defeated Presbyterian, 64-31, on Wednesday night inside Brooks Gymnasium to improve to 3-4. They are led by senior guard Braylyn Milton, who averages 11.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and one steal per game.
The Tigers have a 4-3 advantage over ETSU, with neither team winning consecutive games throughout the 45 years of matchups. Memphis won most recently, 77-74, in a season-opening overtime thriller to begin the 2013 season. All four of Memphis' wins have come at Elma Roane Fieldhouse, while the Bucs are 3-0 against the Tigers in Johnson City.
ETSU is coached by Brenda Mock Brown, in her third season after eight years with UNC Asheville. Memphis women's basketball's director of basketball operations, Nadiria Evans, played under Brown in Asheville, where she remains the program's leading scorer in a single season.
