Memphis Sweeps North Texas on the Road

DENTON, Texas. – The University of Memphis Volleyball team swept North Texas Sunday morning at the UNT Volleyball Center.
The Tigers (10-10, 4-4 AAC) dominated in a 3-0 sweep over the Mean Green (8-11, 5-3) and were led by Hannah Jones with 10 kills. Jasmyn Tate, Clara Bednarek, Tiffany Snook, and Tabytha Toelke followed behind with eight while Jordan Heatherly recorded six kills as well.
Memphis jumped out to an early 11-3 lead in the opening set. North Texas fought back with a 6-1 run to bring the deficit within two. The Tigers extended the lead back out to four, going up 20-16. The Mean Green made a run late in the set to even the score at 24. Snook sealed the deal with an ace, pushing the Tigers to a 26-24 victory.
The Tigers carried their momentum into the second set, taking a 12-4 lead. North Texas could not recover, as Memphis dominated from start to finish. The Tigers grabbed the second set 25-16.
Memphis took another early lead, pulling ahead 11-6. The Tigers extended their lead with huge kills from Heatherly, Bednarek, and Toelke. North Texas tried to make a comeback, coming within three points. However, Memphis pulled through at the end winning 25-21.

The Tigers will be back on the road next weekend playing at Wichita State on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. and at Tulsa on Sunday, Oct.27 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be available to stream on ESPN+.
