No. 22 Tigers Bounce Back with Sunday Sweep of Nevada

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 22 Memphis men's tennis bounced back with a 5-0 Sunday sweep against Nevada in the consolation match at the ITA Kick-Off in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

With the win, the Tigers are now 5-1 on the year.

Doubles dominated again as Pablo Alemany and Charlie Barry won at the top spot (6-1), before Conor Gannon and Harry Rock took the second doubles (6-2) to give Memphis a 1-0 advantage. On court three, Sam Reeve and Pau Fanlo were in front, 5-2, before their match went unfinished.

In singles action, Alemany claimed the second point on court one when his opponent was forced to retire. Rock defeated his matchup 6-3, 7-6(3) at the fourth line and then Fanlo followed suit with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 3 to clinch the match for the Tigers.

Moritz Kudernatsch secured the final point of the match on court six with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Juan Zabala was also winning his match on court five before they went unfinished.

"I was really impressed by how we responded," Memphis head coach Chris Doerr said. "You never know how teams handle a loss and we came out determined today. We had a quick start at one and two doubles. I thought Charlie at No. 1 and Harry at No. 2 did great.

"Then in singles it was a great team effort. Moritz was a little sick, but he gave a great effort as he did yesterday. I was also impressed with Harry. This is the second weekend in a row he has looked good in singles and doubles. We are excited to move into an SEC week next week starting at Arkansas which includes a home match against another top-15 team."
