SEATTLE, Wash. – The Tigers drop their first two matches of the Husky Invitational on Thursday. Memphis fought through each set, taking it down to the wire, however unable to pull out a win against the Rebels and the Huskies.

Grad Reilly Briggs recorded her 1,000^th career kill in the match against UNLV, marking the bright spot on the day.
UNLV 3, Memphis 0

Memphis and UNLV began the game trading point for point, neither allowing its opponent to begin a run.
Clara Bednarek hit a line drive down the right side of the court halfway through the first set. The Tigers used the momentum to push ahead of the Rebels.
Briggs tallied her 1,000^th career kill to take the lead back late in the first set at 22-21.
UNLV would go on to take the back and forth set one 25-23, after taking back the lead on a 4-0 run.
Memphis took the lead early in the second set with UNLV keeping close on their heels, not letting the lead grow more than two points.
The Rebels took the lead midway through the second set going on a 5-0 run, led at the net by Isabel Martin.
The Tigers looked to stop the Rebels, going a 5-2 run late in the second set, but were unable to push through dropping the set 20-25.
UNLV forced a timeout early from Memphis in the third set, going on a 4-0 run consisting of two service aces.
The Tigers started at 4-0 run halfway through the third set closing the gap. Alexis Lewis and Briggs put up a big block adding to Memphis' momentum.
Memphis tied it back up late in the third set, 19-19, with a kill down the line from Tabytha Toelke. UNLV fought back and took the set and the match.

Notables

Two Tigers hit over .350: Bednarek hit .400 and Briggs followed with a .357 clip.
Toelke led the Tigers in digs, tallying 10 on the match, Loren Robertson followed with nine.
Abigail Schlueter and Rylee Busse each recorded two aces a piece against the Rebels.

Washington 3, Memphis 0

Washington got off to a quick start, opening with an 8-4 run. Memphis would pull back to take the lead with a 7-0 run, with an overpass kill and block from Jordan Heatherly.
The Huskies would take back the lead with a 7-3 run, forcing a Tiger timeout to slow momentum late in the first set.
Bednarek would force a Washington with back-to-back aces, making the score 24-23 Huskies. Washington would go on to win the set, 25-23.
Memphis start scoring off in set two with an ace from Heatherly and would use the momentum to hold the lead early on.
Washington would take the lead midway through the second set, capitalizing off a 4-0 run and finding open spaces on the court.
The Tigers started a 4-0 run with blocks from Eleftheria Baxa and Bednarek and a kill from Heatherly, bringing the score back within one late in the second set.
Washington would go on to take set three, 25-20.
The Huskies started on an 8-3 run, forcing a Tiger timeout after back-to-back aces from Audra Wilmes.
Memphis began to close the gap halfway through the set, 5-0 run, with kills from Autumn Flynn, Toelke and Briggs.
The Tigers would fight to bring it back within four, before dropping the final set 24-21.

Notables

Toelke led the Tigers in kills with 11, followed by Heatherly with seven and Bednarek with six.
Two Tigers recorded double digit digs: Busse (16) and Schlueter (12).
