Sep 08, 2023 | Women's Volleyball
SEATTLE, Wash. – The Tigers picked up a win on the road as they defeated FIU 3-2 in a five-set thriller. Memphis broke its six-game losing streak with a big performance from freshman Jordan Heatherly. Heatherly ended the match hitting on a .300 clip, with 13 kills, eight digs, seven assists and four service aces.
"We knew this was going to be a very tough tournament that would test us when we schedule to come to Seattle. We played three very good teams, two of which, were NCAA participants last season." Head coach Sean Burdette remarked. "We had great fight today and so many players stepped up at different times. It was great to end our trip on a win and to be able to get back home to prepare for Arizona State on Thursday."
The Tigers took set one before dropping sets two and three. They fought back through a long back and forth fourth set, forcing a fifth. The Tigers started slow in set five before going on a 12-4 run to close out the match with a win.
