Tigers Back Home for Beale Street Challenge

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tigers come back home after two weeks on the road to host the Beale Street Challenge. Memphis will host Arizona State, Southern Miss and Little Rock in a three-day, four-team tournament, Thursday, Sept. 14 through Saturday Sept. 16. The Tigers are looking to add to their win streak after defeating FIU in five sets last Friday.
Arizona State has started the season strong, going undefeated at 9-0 through the first three weeks of play and is currently receiving votes in the AVCA rankings. The Sun Devils have played a total of 30 sets, hitting on a .345 clip and averaging 13.80 kills per set. Five ASU players are hitting over .325 and are led in kills by Marta Levinska (113) and Geli Cyr (112). The Sun Devils are also averaging 12.67 digs 2.47 blocks per set.
Southern Miss is currently sitting at 3-5 with a two-match winning streak, defeating Nicholls and Mississippi Valley State this past weekend. The Golden Eagles are hitting on a .199 clip and averaging 12.6 kills per set. They are led by Mia Wesley with 115 kills so far on the season. Southern Miss averages 16.27 digs per set and is led by Aysu Dalogullari (97) and Megan Harris (94).
Little Rock is currently sitting at 3-5 with a two-match win streak, taking down Lamar and LA Tech over the weekend. The Trojans are hitting on a .143 clip and averaging 11.1 kills per set, they are led by Bella Cherry (54) and Daedrianna Cail (52). Little Rock has also recorded 16.06 digs per set, bring led by Rylee McClintock.
Memphis comes into the tournament with a one-match win streak after defeating FIU 3-2 to end the Husky Invitational. The Tigers have accumulated 402 kills and averaged 11.8 kills per set. They are led offensively by Tabytha Toelke (83), Reilly Briggs (74) and Clara Bednarek (69). Defensively Memphis is averaging 15.2 digs per set, led by Abigail Schlueter with 140 so far on the season.
