Tiger Softball Signs Daryn Miller as New Assistant Softball Coach

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger head softball coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro announced the addition of Daryn Miller as an assistant coach. Miller played for Memphis baseball during the 1996 and 1997 seasons and is coming to the softball program after successful years coaching on both the high school and collegiate levels.
"I am excited to add Daryn and his family to our staff. He is a passionate Memphis alumni who brings considerable experience from his baseball and men's fastpitch background." VanBrakle Prothro remarked. "He understands and values the standards and culture we are building here and is invested in building relationships in the community, the staff, and with student athletes. I can't wait for him to get started!"
Miller comes to Memphis after spending six years with Hardin County High School in Savannah, Tenn. During his tenure Hardin County High School appeared in multiple state tournaments and took home third place in 2022. Before Hardin County High School, Miller worked on staff with Heartland Community College, where the team had three national tournament appearances, placing third in 2008 and taking home the National Title in 2009.
Miller's playing career includes Memphis baseball after transferring from Lake Land Community College as a First-Team All-Region player. Miller played 15 years in Men's Major Fastpitch was an ASA All-American and a three-time member of USA National Team.
"I am excited to be coming back to the University of Memphis. As a former Memphis Tiger, I experienced how special the city of Memphis is and I am looking forward to sharing that experience with the team, recruits and community." Miller shared. "I cannot wait to be a part of the new culture that is being built. I want to thank Coach Steph, Executive AD Lauren Ashman, and the rest of the staff for this opportunity. They have a great vision for the future of Memphis Softball, and I am proud for the opportunity to be a part of it."
Miller graduated from Memphis with a bachelor's degree in professional studies and a Master's degree from UT-Martin in Teaching.
