Memphis Softball Inks James McIntyre as New Director of Operations and Player Development

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger head softball coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro announced the addition of James McIntyre as the softball director of operations and player development. McIntyre worked as a director of operations and player development with Penn State before coming to Memphis. McIntyre's resume also included stints at the University of Alabama, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Sports Information Solutions.
"James is a great addition to our staff as Director of Operations and Player Development. He will be instrumental in adding the data, analytics, and player development piece to our staff which will continue to help us grow our student athletes." VanBrakle Prothro remarked. "He has great experience, from working with the Dodgers, Alabama, and most recently Penn State. I am excited he and his wife Kristin will be joining us here at Memphis."
During his time with Penn State, McIntyre was responsible for compiling scouting videos for game preparation, assisting with a variety of technologies such as Rapsodo, Blast Motion and Yakkertech, and he also led on the team's video operation. In addition, he managed team communication, served as a liaison with compliance, equipment and support staff, coordinated team and coach's meetings, and assisted in budget management.
From February 2021 to June 2022, McIntyre was the Olympic video athletics assistant at the University of Alabama. In his role, he compiled scouting video for the softball program, using the Dartfish video system. He also created opponent scouting reports both offensively and defensively. He also assisted the women's soccer program in its operations, including travel planning.
Prior to Alabama, McIntyre worked as a video associate for the Los Angeles Dodgers Single A team where he charted live games, assisted in bullpen sessions, and created player highlight videos. He also spent time working for Sports Information Solutions as a baseball analytics video scout.
"I am ecstatic to be a part of Memphis softball." McIntyre shared. "We have a lot of exciting opportunities here. We have a great staff, and the sky is the limit."
McIntyre graduated from Ball State with a bachelor's degree in Sports Administration and a minor in Marketing and Communications.
