ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The awards continue to roll in for fifth year Mya Jones as she has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Hermann Trophy Watch List. The Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious award in college soccer, recognizing the top men's and women's players in the nation.
An offensive standout for the Tigers, Jones has played a part in two American Athletic Conference Championships, one AAC Regular Season Title and helped Memphis to their furthest run in the NCAA Tournament a season ago. Jones, who is a seven-time AAC Award winner, has been an absolute threat to opposing defenses with her 16 goals over the past five seasons.
Jones is no stranger to the awards, being placed as a Midfielder to Watch on the United Soccer Coaches List earlier this week while also being named as an All-South Region First Team member and was named as the 2023 Tennessee Hall of Fame Female Amateur Athlete of the Year in July.
"Absolutely delighted for her," said head coach Brooks Monaghan. "She has had a great career up to this point and it's an honor for her to be on this list. No award or watch list can ever happen without the support of their teammates, but it is an honor well deserved and we are excited for her."
The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
The 2023 winner will be revealed on Jan. 5, 2024, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
