KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The honors keep piling in for Memphis junior Finley Lavin, who was named a First Team Scholar All-American by United Soccer Coaches on Thursday.
Lavin was also named a First Team All-American by United Soccer Coaches and TopDrawerSoccer earlier this month. The Tiger captain was a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist and ranked No. 11 on TopDrawerSoccer's top 100 players of the season.
Studying health science, Lavin posted a 3.78 grade point average (student-athletes needed a 3.40 to qualify for Scholar All-America). The Jarrettsville, Maryland, native led the 17-1-3 Tigers through a historic season. She played every minute in 17 of 21 matches, anchoring one of the best defenses in the country to 14 shutouts.
Lavin is one of four juniors on the team; Stanford's Elise Evans, Virginia's Lia Godfrey and Lavin are the only three student-athletes to appear on all three All-America First Teams.
