Lavin Earns First Team Nod from TopDrawerSoccer
Dec 17, 2025 | Women's Soccer
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Memphis defender Finley Lavin was named to the First Team Best XI by TopDrawerSoccer on Wednesday morning.
The Tiger captain earned her second First Team honor, having been selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team earlier this month. She's the first Memphis player named to both outlet's postseason teams since TopDrawerSoccer began the awards in 2011.
Lavin was one of five players to start all 21 games for the 17-1-3 Tigers, who reached as high as No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll and ended the season ranked No. 18. The junior anchored a Memphis backline that conceded six goals in the regular season and finished with a 0.66 goals-against average.
One of three defenders on TopDrawerSoccer's First Team, Lavin is one of two defenders to be named to the first team by both outlets (Elise Evans, Stanford). The 14 shutouts that Memphis posted were the fourth most in the country and tied for the second most in the program's history.
A native of Jarrettsville, Maryland, Lavin adds a third national honor to her two American Conference Defender of the Year awards, having also been named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist. She heads into her senior season with three regular season conference championships and a conference tournament title in 2023.
