MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis left-handed pitcher Dalton Kendrick has been named to the NCBWA NCAA Division I All-America baseball team. Kendrick received third-team recognition as a relief pitcher, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced Wednesday.
Kendrick's 12 saves led the AAC, ranked him eighth in the nation this season and were the third-most ever by a Tiger pitcher. His 20-career saves also rank as the third most in program history.
For the season, Kendrick registered a 3.38 ERA to go with a .90 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 45.1 innings. Opponents batted just .172 against the 6-foot-5 lefty and he issued just 13 free passes.
The Hernando, Miss., native threw a season-high 4.1 gutsy innings of relief in the Tigers' final game of the season against Houston in the AAC Tournament and struck out four while allowing just three hits.
Kendrick becomes the first Tiger pitcher to earn All-America honors since Nolan Blackwood in 2015.
